Train Madrid ValenciaTrains between Madrid and Valencia run hourly between 0730 and 2230 with last departures in both directions for the journey at 2140.

The route is operated by both the Ave high speed train and the Alvia train from Madrids Atocha station with a complimentary thrice daily service on the cheaper, and slower, Regional train.

The regional train to Valencia from Madrid costs 22€ for a single and 35€ for a return and takes a gruelling 5 and a half hours!

Prices for train tickets from Madrid to Valencia on the Alaris are 43.50€ for a single and 60€ for a return although web specials available at Renfe can make this 26€ in each direction.

The rail route itself passes through the plain of Castilla La Mancha and Albacete before some spectacular views in the mountains as one pases into the Communitat Valenciana.

If you wish to use one of the High speed trains which will complete the journey in a staggering 90 minutes then be prepared to pay on average €60 in each direction althouigh promotional fares are available from just 32€.


Madrid to Valencia by bus15 daily bus services link Madrid and Valencia with hourly departures from 0730 until 2330. The Coach service is operated by the Auto Res group and the trip is completed in 4 hours.

Two levels of service exist depending on the departure time and as such the single price is either 23€ or 29€ and a return journey double that. Coaches depart Madrid to Valencia from the Estacion del sur de Madrid (Station layout) and reservations can be made online through the web portal Todobus, which is in English!
