For those who want it all in one place Madrid shopping centers are the quickest and easiest way to get things done in one day. After all who wants to spend their vacation shopping?

In recent years a number of "centros commerciales" (Shopping centres / Malls) have sprung up around Madrid and offer a combination of Spanish stores and international brand names. Some even go further and include Cinema and sports complexes! Here we list only the biggest and best Madrid shopping centers!

Xanadu

Xanadu ski slope

Xanadu is a multi level sports and shopping center located to the south of the city on the side of the A-5 highway. Easily reached by Car, Bus or Taxi it is also provides for disabled people and young children.

Xanadu Madrid also contains the largest indoor ski slope in Europe!

Important information:

  • Opening Hours: 1000 - 2200 all year except 1 & 6th Jan, 1 May, 25 Dec
  • Access: Take the Autovía A-5 to the south of the city until Km 23.5 and it is on the left hand side.

PlazaNorte2

PlazaNorte2 is set amongst the largest Madrid shopping complex just to the north of the city. The same complex also plays host to a number of independent stores and supermarkets with their own buildings eg Ikea, Carrefour, Decimas however with its 200 plus stores PlazaNorte2 dominates the area.

PlazaNorte 2 is contains a large number of restaurants and bars for both day and night!

Sexta Avenida

Sexta Avenida takes its name from the complex´s location at the side of the A-6 highway. This strategic loaction means that its 100 plus shops can be reached by Caqr Bus or Train.

Sexta avenida has created a typicla "Terraza" (terrace) inside the centre in which you can enjoy Spanish food whilst undercover all year round!

  • Opening Hours: 1000 - 2200 all year except 1 & 6th Jan, 1 May, 25 Dec
  • Access:
    • By Road: Take the Autovía A-6 to the North West of the city until exit 11 and follow the signs "Centro Commercial".
    • By Bus: Routes 651, 652, 653, 654 y 655 from Moncloa
    • By Train: Red de Cercanias C-10, Station "El Barial"

Other Madrid shopping centres

Whilst the Madrid shopping complexes above are the "big three" there exists many additional smaller complexes. Below are links to two such complexes who have taken the trouble to provide English websites.

Las Rozas Village An outlet centre for the main and independent fashion houses located close to the Sexta avenida shopping center.

El Jardin de Serrano Located in the Heart of Madrids shopping district this center, although smaller than the out of town centers, is one of the few one stop shopping centers within reach of most Madrid hotels. Somewhere to while away an afternoon if still recuperating from the jetlag?
