 | Daily, in each direction, there are two trains between Madrid and Bilbao (early morning and mid afternoon). The early morning Alvia takes 5 hours to complete the trip and costs 45€ for a single in turista class and 65€ for the return. The slightly slower Talgo departs in the early afternoon and takes 6 hours but enjoys a slightly more favourable pricing of 40€ and 60€ for a single or return respectively.  | Continental Auto operates the bus route Madrid to Bilbao 15 times daily offering two distinct services. 11 of the trips are made with a standard coach and cost just 26€ in each direction. The other 4 journeys are made with a more luxuriously equipped coach and cost 40€ each way. All services depart from the Intercambiador Avenida de América and the more expensive service enjoys a 30 minute time saving against the 4 hours and 45 minutes that the cheaper bus takes.
