El Rastro
The early Sunday morning open air market has just about something for everyone! Look for those gifts or even something for yourself. You can even forget about the shopping and simply take lunch in one of the many bar / restaurants that line the narrow market streets.

Tapas in Plaza Mayor
One of Madrids most historic settings has probably the widest selection of Tapas in all Madrid. Try Galician Octopus from the north of Spain or fried potatoe pieces in spicy Brava sauce! Best time to visit is between twelve and two in the afternoon. -
Jamon (Spanish ham)
Dry cured as a whole pigs leg Spanish ham has a rich taste and is used in many Spanish dishes. Jamon can be ordered in just about any Bar or restaurant and can be either a Tapa to go with a few beers or a starter to share before a meal. -
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu Tour
Take the tour around the home of the most succesful football club in the world. Visit this 70,000 plus all seater stadium in the heart of Madrid. Or, if you are lucky and Real Madrid are playing at home, take in a game.

Tortilla Español (Spanish Omlette)
Yes its the third time something to eat has come up in the top 10 but Spain is rightly reknowned for its cooking and healthy mediteranean diet. A simple omlette of fried potatoes forms the staple Spanish mid morning Snack. Sometimes it can be had with Jamon or Onion. Sounds plain? Its not! Try it! -
Madrids Galleries
You cannot come to Madrid and not visit at least one of its world famous Art galleries. Close to each other in the centre of the city a great activity for the middle of the day in summer when the sun can become unbearable!

Evening Coffee in Plaza Santa Ana
Take coffee after seven in the evening and "people watch" as Madrid gets ready for another dressy night out. A number of terrazas and restaurants are also available should one wish to relax and put off until later the walk back to the hotel! -
An evening in La Latina
Take dinner one evening, after nine pm mind, in the historical part of Madrid where the narrow streets come alive to the evening sounds of Madrid eating out. Madrileños life is all about eating, talking and being seen. You must try it for yourself! -
Royal Palace and La Almudena
Visit two of Madrids principle

and get a taste for the rich history of the city. Conveniently located just 10 minutes walk from the centre of the city you can spend as much or as little time as you want. Also handy for catching the

to Case de Campo. -
Boating in Retiro Park
Take a walk around the so called "lungs of Madrid" and if you still have the energy go boating on the lake that is Retiros centrepiece. Something that both the Romantics and the Kids can enjoy... you must try and ensure seperate boats though!
